Using Real-Life Problems To Teach Students to Design Authentic Solutions
Putting student designers in touch with people in need of a 3D designed and printed solution plays a critical part in our "Creating Changemakers" model: giving students the opportunity to develop real solutions to real problems and leading to profound learning experiences and feelings of empowerment for them, and "win-win" opportunities for all involved. In this project, students from Brookwood School are 3D designing and printing solutions to problems posted by members of the Brookwood community.

Community Problems in Need of Urgent Solutions
From Mr. Lehrer - I'm looking for a system to be able to hang these red plastic bins, not on the metal cart, but on the wall of my office - the piece should be able to be screwed into the wall and support a bin filled with a couple of pounds of objects.

From Mr. Wellington - I'm looking for a system that will allow me to hang the Pickle Ball nets in the Cutler Gym. I'm looking for a set of some sort of a "hangers" or "hooks" that we can screw into the wooden columns and is strong enough to hold these heavy nets.

Drawing Mirror Clip
Problem - Hi there - When we draw self portraits in art class, we need a support to keep the mirror in the same place for the duration of the drawing. Can you design a clip that would mount two mirrors (facing in opposite directions) to allow two art students to draw their self portraits? Thanks, Ms. Kelsey. |
Plastic Boat Piece
Problem - Hi there - I have given Mrs. Woodruff a small black plastic piece for my boat that has broken and needs to be replaced - yet I can't find these pieces online anymore. Could you take a look at it and let me know if you think it is possible to produce one of these? Thanks, Mr. Woodruff. |
9 . 5th Grade Problems
Problem - Hi - We have a couple of problems in our classroom that we are wondering if you can help us with. First, wur water bottles fall over on our desk, fall off when we open desks, or get under foot on the floor. Second, our books fall over within our shelves in our classroom library. Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks, Ms Buchan |
